Spectrum Turkey, Turkey

Spectrum Turkey is a Yoga and Healing retreat centre located in Dalyan, Turkey. They offer yoga and healing retreats from April to November each year, hosting teachers and their students from all over Europe.

About the project

After I’d co-hosted a couple of Yoga and Ayurveda retreats at Spectrum Turkey, the centre’s owners ]oanne and Tom were keen to learn more about Permaculture. They wanted to know what systems they could introduce to help them produce more of their own food and make better use of their kitchen and garden waste. In particular, they were wanted solutions that were easy to implement and maintain.

I was keen to find a variety of solutions that were specific to their property, multifunctional in benefit, didn’t create to much additional work for existing staff, and worked well not only when the centre was full, but also during the months when less guests were flowing through and kitchen waste was being produced.

 What we did

The results

  • Increased the soil fertility and production of existing organic garden.

  • Increased the variety, quality and yield of the food grown in their gardens, which helped save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

  • Enhanced the beauty of the property, which helped enhance guest experience
